Common Questions
Do I need an account to use Minara?
No! Minara works perfectly in guest mode. You can see all prayer times without creating an account. Create an account only if you want cloud sync or prayer notifications.
Is Minara really completely free?
Yes! Minara is 100% free with no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, and no ads. Every feature is available to everyone at no cost. We built Minara to serve the Muslim community.
How accurate are the prayer times?
Minara uses established Islamic calculation methods trusted by Muslims worldwide. You can choose from 6 different methods (Muslim World League, ISNA, Egyptian, Umm Al-Qura, Karachi, Diyanet) and select your madhab (Shafi'i or Hanafi). We recommend verifying times with your local mosque for the most accurate schedule.
Does Minara work offline?
Yes! Minara caches prayer times locally on your device, so you can access your prayer schedule even without an internet connection. This is perfect for travel or areas with limited connectivity.
Which calculation method should I choose?
It depends on your location and tradition:
- Muslim World League: Widely used globally
- ISNA: Common in North America
- Egyptian: Used in Egypt and Middle East
- Umm Al-Qura: Saudi Arabia
- Karachi: Pakistan and South Asia
- Diyanet: Turkey
Is my location data safe?
Absolutely. Your location is sent to our servers only to calculate accurate prayer times. It's immediately discarded after calculation and never stored. We take your privacy seriously.
Troubleshooting
Prayer times seem incorrect
- Verify your location is set correctly
- Check that you've selected the right calculation method for your area
- Ensure your madhab setting matches your tradition
- Compare with your local mosque to confirm the best method
- Check your device's time zone and date settings
Location not working
- Go to iPhone Settings → Privacy → Location Services
- Ensure Location Services are enabled
- Find Minara in the list and set to 'While Using the App'
- Alternatively, use the city search to manually select your location
- Restart the app after changing location settings
App crashes or won't open
- Ensure you're running the latest version of Minara
- Restart your iPhone
- Check that you have sufficient storage space
- Update to the latest iOS version
- If issues persist, delete and reinstall the app
